beauty things i fail at

things i don't just suck at, i fail on some level

1. painting my toe nails
we're going to get personal here. just a warning. i'm one of those ones who paints them and then let's the polish chip and grow out with the nail. i do cut them and then the polish comes off. i'm lazy about it.

2. false eyelashes
it takes a while to put them on, messes with your shadow. i do like the look of them, but me putting them on involves a lot of cursing and anger. i have to really be in the mood to wear them.

3. hair care/styling
i color my hair when i feel like it. i mostly wear it in a ponytail or clip. i don't like applying heat to my hair, it doesn't respond well. i also wash it once a week, since my hair needs those oils from previous lightening. i don't add any products and don't use conditioner, since it breaks me out. i know lots of hair things being a cosmo, i'm just lazy with my own hair.

4. panda liner
i still like wearing black liner, looking like a panda. i know everyone hates it, i don't really care. i'm still going to wear it when i need to get makeup done fast.

5. keeping up on new beauty products
there's so many palettes, brushes, primers, and powders coming out i can't up with it. some products i'm not interested in at all, others only semi interested. the only thing i'm lacking in right now is water line liners. i don't need any blushes, shadows, powders, or primers. i already have most of my favorite products, which work pretty well. i don't feel the need to try everything that comes out. i don't have the energy, funds, or interest in that.

6. spot cleaning
i do clean my brushes, but i don't spot clean them. i wipe them off if there's color on it, but i don't feel the need to use alcohol on it. no one else uses my makeup and i wouldn't let them anyway.

7. awkward swatches/lighting
i know i fail at this, i'm the queen on awkward swatches and sketchy lighting. the sun doesn't like me taking pictures of makeup. i also like using maximum room on my arm for swatching. it could be better, i'll probably work on it at some point.

8. candles?
this might not be a beauty thing, but i'm sticking it here. i can't do candles. i have cats and not a lot of space, and most lighters don't fit far enough down to light the candle. i do like wax tarts, which do work just as great. it's less of a mess and less jars. wax is also cheaper than candles.
